7 Ways to Make a Visitor Read Your Posts
In the first “blogging brainiac series” episode I am going to show you how can you keep a regular entrecard dropper or a visitor stay on your blog and read your posts! As I said this process is pretty easy, and the only thing you’ll need to do is to follow my steps. If you do that, you’ll notice a quick change of the page views your blog gets! I’ve made a list of methods you should use in order to keep a visitor reading your blog! I don’t need to waste my or yours golden time so let’s start:
1. Use eye catching titles.
Did I grabbed your attention with the title you see?! Probably yes! This is called an “eye catching title” Will you rather click on a link called “Blog Tips”? …or “Blog Tips by a 13-year old”? You get the point, right?
2. Use (more) white space.
This is the tactic that many bloggers and experienced ebook publishers are using in order to keep their readers interested in reading their articles! Try it
3. NO ADS!
Yes, you hear me right! No ads. I hate when I see some post filled with ads, and I bet you hate ads too! Try to optimize. Instead you could sell banners and links if your blog has good page rank!
4. Design means all!
If you don’t have any valuable content on your blog, at least get a good design and don’t forget to be unique! A good design can grab your readers attention easy even if you don’t have good content!
5. Don’t write long posts!
I totally don’t agree with writing long posts! This days many people are “too” busy so if they see a 2000 word post they’ll probably walk away and say that they don’t have the time to read your post! So try to keep your posts short and informative!
6. Make friends!
Yes! Friends will read your posts more that everyone even it’s one of the long one’s! If you comment on another blog the owner will know that you readied his post and will try to do the same by reading your posts! Try this, it works.
7. Use images!
Do some search on google images related to the post you are writing. There is always some interesting picture that will fit your post!
So at the end all you need to do is to ask yourself:
- Do I use eye catching titles?
- Do I use white space when I write?
- Do I fill my site with ads?
- Do I have a good design?
- Do I write “too” long posts?
- Do I make friends online?
- Do I use images when doing my posts?
- Did I subscribed to the blogging brainiac feed?
If not go back at the top!
And don’t forget to join the blogging brainiac group… if you want to be one!

Mark, your theme is not even ready yet, but you’re trying to get subscribers and readers? First thing is first, which is your theme. The links still show “Link Number 1″ and you have no ad holders for your ad spots. Take my advice and get it done as a #1 priority.

I agree with Mike. Since you’re just starting out, you might want to work on other things BEFORE trying to get subscribers.
But in addition, I don’t agree with number 5. A lot of people DO love to read long and in depth posts, especially when it comes to blogging tips and making money online. You might want to keep that in mind. I mean, check out my blog, or Mike’s, or Problogger, John Chow’s, etc…
Just figured I’d let you know that people (and a LOT of people) love to read in depth posts.

Its interesting that you point out no advertisements. No offense, but dont you run 125×125 ads here too? I think I seen those on at least half of the entrycard sites I’ve visited.
Otherwise, the rest of the information is spot on. I think advertisements are okay as long as they dont drown out the content and they are not annoying. Ex. Gif Ads burn me up. I just close the site and move on. I cant stand animated advertisements.
